Hollywood Saviour is the debut solo album from Al Doyle, known for his work with Hot Chip, LCD Soundsystem and New Build. Written and produced by Doyle and performed almost entirely by him, the ten-track album brings his songwriting and vocals to the foreground across rock-oriented songs with electronic instrumentation, drum machines and synthesizers used throughout.
The album ranges from the energetic, chant-driven "Hard Times In America" and synth-led love song "The Front Door" to the gruff, unconventional seasonal track "All I Want For Christmas." It's lyrics address political frustration, relationships, loneliness, self-reliance, family, substance use and personal ambition with directness and humor. Recorded at Relax And Enjoy in London, mixed by Margo Broom and mastered by Bob Weston, Hollywood Saviour reflects a wide-ranging body of work that places Doyle's voice, writing and performance at it's centre.
