Originally released in 1995, Joe Lovano's "Quartets: Live at the Village Vanguard" was named Jazz Album of the Year by readers of Downbeat Magazine. Quartets was recorded during two appearances at New York's Village Vanguard, each featuring this tenor saxophonist with a different quartet. Almost twenty years later, Blue Note Records reissues the first of Lovano's concerts on 2X vinyl LPs as part of an overall Blue Note 75th anniversary vinyl initiative spearheaded by Blue Note Records President, Don Was.
